Giants Vs. Nationals: Washington Leads San Francisco 3-2 After Five Innings Of Play

Behind yet another solid starting pitching performance, and a three for three start at the plate for Jayson Werth, the Washington Nationals lead the San Francisco Giants 3-2 after five innings of play.

Washington put single runs on the board in the second, third and fourth innings off Giants starter Matt Cain, who has given up those three runs on seven hits and four walks. The righthander has also thrown 90 pitches in just five innings of work.

Jordan Zimmerman has scattered six hits and struck out three, while allowing two runs to San Francisco this afternoon.

Werth, the prize off season acquisition of the Nats, has three hits in three trips to the plate, and wily old veteran Alex Cora is two for two in the eight hole, driving in the first Washington run of the game. The Nats have also scored on a Cain wild pitch and a Jerry Hairston Jr. groundout.
