How's this for timing? On Monday, May 2, in the final game of a four-game series with the San Francisco Giants, the Washington Nationals will have a military appreciation night. This was a planned event, one that had been in the works for some time. As it turns out, it just so happens to coincide with the news of Osama Bin Laden's death. This should make for an absolutely memorable atmosphere at Nationals Park.

The night will feature a number of videos of active service men and will conclude with a U.S. Coast Guard flyover. With a valid ID, military personnel can receive four complimentary tickets from the box office starting at 5:30. The Nationals have done military appreciation nights before, but this is the first time the Nationals will have roped off thousands of tickets to be given to military personnel for free, and it just so happens to occur at a time when the country will be honoring its military the most.

Just another reminder of how some things transcend sports.
