Ryan Zimmerman is expected to return to the Washington Nationals' lineup on Tuesday after missing most of the 2011 season due to an abdominal injury. Zimmerman completed his final two rehabilitation games in Triple A and is on schedule to play in Tuesday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Via Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post:
Ryan Zimmerman will be activated tomorrow, a Nats source said. No shock. That was plan, and now it's definite.
On Friday, Bill Ladson of MLB.com reported that the plan was to activate Zimmerman on Tuesday, provided his final two rehab games went well. Evidently, they did.
Zimmerman has not played since April 9, when his abdominal muscle started acting up against following a poor Spring Training. He was on target to return in late-April, but then the injury ended up being more serious than it initially appeared. He got surgery in late-April, which is about six weeks ago, or right on line with his projected timeline.
