Nationals Vs. Diamondbacks Score: Nationals Strike First, Lead 3-0

It is a hot one out in Arizona, but the heat hasn't bothered the Washington Nationals. Instead they seem to be just warming up as the Nationals struck quickly and ferociously and now lead the Arizona Diamondbacks 3-0 in the fifth-inning.

All three Nationals runs came in the first-inning. The second batter of the game, Nationals shortstop Ian Desmond hit a double off the D-Backs' Zach Duke. After right fielder Jayson Werth grounded out, first baseman Michael Morse came to the plate with two outs and smacked a RBI single scoring Desmond. Second baseman Danny Espinosa followed up with a single of his own to set up catcher Wilson Ramos. Ramos then crushed a straight down the middle pitch for a two-run double.

Starter Jordan Zimmermann has been sensational thus far only allowing two hits, one walk and striking out three. The only trouble Zimmermann has seen tonight from the D-Backs was when Gerardo Parra led off the bottom of the third with a double, but the Nationals were able to leave him stranded.
