Ryan Zimmerman Injury Rehabilitation Sends Him To Single-A Potomac

Ryan Zimmerman's minor league stint continues as he recovers from his torn abdominal muscle suffered at the beginning of the 2011 season. After a brief stop in low Single-A Hagerstown, which happened to coincide with phenom Bryce Harper, Zimmerman will move up to high Single-A ball and play in Potomac on Monday night, according to a Nationals press release.

It's not immediately clear how long Zimmerman will stay in Potomac, but his stint will begin with Monday night's game against Frederick at 7:05 p.m. Sunday's game was the only one Zimmerman played for Hagerstown. He certainly passed that test with flying colors, going 2-2 with a double, triple, walk, RBI and two runs scored.

It's still not immediately clear when Zimmerman will return to the Majors. He has been out since April 9, and had surgery on the injury at the end of April. The original timeline was six weeks, which would mean he would return to action next week.
