Nationals Vs. Giants Final Score: Washington's Bats Come Up Short In 3-1 Loss

The Washington Nationals couldn't get enough going offensively without Jayson Werth in the lineup and lost the finale of a three-game series with the San Francisco Giants, 3-1. In the process, they wasted a rare solid effort from Yunesky Maya, who gave up just one run and four hits in six-plus innings. San Francisco moves to 34-27 on the year, while Washington falls to 27-34.

The Nationals got their only run in the top of the seventh inning on a two-out double by Rick Ankiel that scored Michael Morse. That tied the game at 1 and let Maya off the hook. But the Nationals blew it in the bottom of the inning, as Sean Burnett came in and gave up two runs on an RBI triple by Brandon Crawford, followed by an RBI single by Eli Whiteside. The Nationals managed only one hit the rest of the way.
