Nationals Vs. Padres Score: Livan Hernandez Makes Heads-Up Catch But Nats Trail 2-1

It is still early in the game between the Washington Nationals and San Diego Padres and both teams have scored runs, but in the bottom of the fourth-inning it is 2-1 Padres over the Nationals. Starter Livan Hernandez has to be hitting himself in the head for giving up an early lead and in the bottom of the second the ball almost hit him in the head on a comebacker to the mound.

In the bottom of the first-inning Hernandez looked to ready himself for a good outing. After giving up a single to Chris Denorfia and then picking him off, it looked like Hernandez was erasing his mistake. However Jason Barlett followed up with a single and then Chase Headley cashed Barlett and himself in with a two-run home run. Since then, Hernandez looks like he has settled and the Nationals gained back a run on an Alex Cora sac fly in the second-inning.

In the bottom of the third Hernandez then made a spectacular catch (and a lot of hurt and personal strife) at a comebacker to the mound from the bat of Denorfia. The ball came straight back at Hernandez's head who put up his glove and somehow caught it before falling back on the mound on his back. After making the catch he took off his glove and started nursing his hand, but Hernandez remains in the game.
