Remember when so many people in D.C. were upset that the Washington Nationals passed on re-signing Adam Dunn last winter? Looks like the Nationals may have been right after all. Dunn signed with the White Sox and has been a huge disappointment. He's hitting just .185, and we're already close to August.
Now, he's talking about quitting. Here's what he told Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports:
"If I'm not having fun anymore, I'll go home," Dunn told Yahoo! Sports. "Flat out. I'll go home. I mean that. Swear to goodness. I'll. Go. Home. I enjoy playing. Even though I suck. Or have been sucking. I enjoy playing the game. Love it. But as soon as I lose that, I'm gone, dude. It's true.
"How many games can you play doing this? This is ridiculous. You get to a point, and you're like ..."
Dunn later admits he doesn't think he could ever actually quit, but still, the piece is a sad one for a guy who had his best years in D.C.
Of course, the Nationals shouldn't exactly gloat about knowing to let Dunn go, since they signed Jayson Werth and Adam LaRoche last winter.
