Marlins Vs. Nationals Score: Laynce Nix Homers, But Nationals Down 5-1

As has happened so many times before since 2005 the Washington Nationals seem completely unable to unravel the riddle that is the Florida Marlins. Jordan Zimmermann has had a terrible Tuesday night as has the Nationals offense which has led to the Florida Marlins taking a commanding 5-1 over the Nats at Nationals Park.

The only Washington run and hit of the night came from outfielder Laynce Nix. In the bottom of the fifth inning Nix crushed a pitch from Ricky Nolasco into the Nationals right field bullpen to break up Nolasco's no hit bid. Nix's hit ended a 39-out hitless streak for the Nats. Other than that, it has been completely Florida's ballgame.

Zimmermann has only gone a little over five innings and has given up five runs on seven hits. He has walked three and struck out three. The young right hander has not looked solid at all which does not bode well for the rest of the game. The Nationals need offense in a big way.
