Cubs Vs. Nationals Score: Nationals Chase Cubs Into An Early Hole 3-0

The Washington Nationals came out swinging in their Tuesday night game against the Chicago Cubs and coupled with taking advantage of some Cubs errors they have jumped out in front early in support of pitcher Ross Detwiler who is making his 2011 season debut. The Nationals lead the Cubs 3-0 in the bottom of the fifth-inning.

In the first-inning the Nationals loaded the bases to start the game, the first three batters in Roger Bernadina, Danny Espinosa and Ryan Zimmerman all singled against Chicago pitcher Ramon Ortiz who is also making his 2011 debut. The next batter Laynce Nix reached base on a forced attempt and a errant throw by Jeff Baker allowed Bernadina and Espinosa to score. Later in the inning Zimmerman scored when Wilson Ramos hit a ground ball single that deflected off Aramis Ramirez.

Detwiler has only given up two hits to the Cubs and has not recorded a walk and only one strikeout. The young southpaw instead is relying on the defense behind him to make the outs. Both teams have only one error and the Nationals error did come on a Detwiler throw.
