MLB All-Star Game: Shane Victorino Wins NL 'Final Vote,' Michael Morse Finishes Fourth

Michael Morse will not be the second member of the Washington Nationals to make the 2011 MLB All-Star Game roster for the National League. Morse finished a distant fourth out of five players in the voting for the NL "Final Vote" on MLB.com, according to CSN Washington's Mark Zuckerman.

Shane Victorino of the Philadelphia Phillies won the vote, defeating Andre Ethier of the Dodgers, Todd Helton of the Rockies, Morse and Ian Kennedy of the Diamondbacks, in that order. Victorino is currently injured, but won despite that. Paul Konerko was the winner in the American League.

Morse loses despite a team campaign to get him into the game. The team passed out "Beast Mode" T-shirts and asked fans at Nationals Park and online to vote for Morse. Alas, it did not turn out as the team had hoped. Tyler Clippard, barring any injury replacements, will be the Nationals' only representative.
