The Washington Nationals have now won three games in a row just after suffering through a painful six-game losing streak. They solved Atlanta Braves ace Jair Jurrjens again, teeing off for five runs in five innings and eventually holding on for a 5-3 win at Nationals Park.
Rick Ankiel led the way for the Nationals with two home runs, both off Jurrjens. He led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run to get the Nationals going, then added a second home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to ultimately put the Nationals up, 3-1. The home runs were Ankiel's fourth and fifth of the season.
The Nationals ultimately chased Jurrjens in the sixth inning, getting one run on a single by Laynce Nix, then another after Jurrjens left on a throwing error by Dan Uggla. Drew Storen once again made an adventure out of it in the ninth inning, surrendering a home run to Uggla, but ultimately picked up his 27th save of the season.
