CORRECTION: The article originally said Detwiler had not won as a starter in 2011. He did win on July 5.
Fresh off giving Chien-Ming Wang his first win of 2011, the Washington Nationals will look to give Ross Detwiler his second when they take on the Chicago Cubs in the second game of a three-game series. The Nationals won on Tuesday night, 3-1, after the first game of the series was rained out on Monday, so they'll be looking to win the series itself on Wednesday.
Detwiler began the year in the minors, but was called up to be a long reliever in July. He returned to the starting rotation on August 4 against the Colorado Rockies, a game the Nationals lost, 6-3. Chicago will counter with 35-year old right-hander Rodrigo Lopez, who is 2-3 with a 5.17 ERA on the season.
The Nationals' lineup remains as usual for this game, except with Jesus Flores catching. Here it is.
- Rick Ankiel (CF)
- Danny Espinosa (2B)
- Ryan Zimmerman (3B)
- Michael Morse (1B)
- Jayson Werth (RF)
- Jonny Gomes (LF)
- Ian Desmond (SS)
- Jesus Flores (C)
- Ross Detwiler (P)
