Nationals Vs. Phillies: Jayson Werth Looks To Help Washington Beat Former Team

Jayson Werth returns to Philadelphia to face his former team as Washington takes on the Phillies without Michael Morse.

The Washington Nationals will travel to Philadelphia to face the Phillies, giving Jayson Werth another chance to play in front of the fans of his former team. First pitch has been moved to 7:30 p.m. from the original 7:05 p.m. start. Normally, a Nationals-Phillies game gets the juices flowing, but with Stephen Strasburg making another rehab start in Potomac, most of Natstown's eyes will be focused there.

Cole Hamels and Livan Hernandez will square off in a pitching matchup that looks like a bit of a mismatch. Then again, every pitching matchup involving the Phillies looks like a mismatch. Hernandez is looking to improve on 6-11 record, while Hamels is going for his 14th win of the season.

Michael Morse will not be in the lineup after suffering an elbow injury on Thursday, but is expected to return later in the series. Brian Bixler will start in his place. Here is the Nationals' lineup.

  1. Rick Ankiel (CF)
  2. Danny Espinosa (2B)
  3. Ryan Zimmerman (3B)
  4. Jonny Gomes (LF)
  5. Jayson Werth (RF)
  6. Wilson Ramos (C)
  7. Ian Desmond (SS)
  8. Brian Bixler (1B)
  9. Livan Hernandez (P)
