The Washington Nationals lead the Florida Marlins 4-1 at Nationals Park on Sunday afternoon after the Nats took advantage of a Marlins and Brad Hand breakdown in the fourth. The Nationals have been getting decent play from both sides of their game as well.
In the fourth inning, leading 1-0, Washington broke the game open when second baseman Danny Espinosa smacked a ground ball single into center field. Marlins center fielder Ryan Petersen flubbed the pick up however which allowed both Ryan Zimmerman and Michael Morse to score while Espinosa moved to second. The next batter first baseman Chris Marrero then hit a ground rule double to score Espinosa and make the score 4-0. Marrero is 1-for-1 and with two RBIs as he also hit a run scoring sac fly in the second inning.
Nationals starter Chien-Ming Wang has been excellent pitching five innings and giving up only one run on two hits while walking none. His only mistake was giving up a solo home run to Gaby Sanchez in the top of the fifth to make the score 4-1 in the sixth.
