Braves Vs. Nationals: Stephen Strasburg Looks To Spoil Atlanta's Wild Card Lead

Stephen Strasburg takes the hill for perhaps the final time this season as the Nationals look to spoil Atlanta's playoff hopes.

The Washington Nationals have been on a roll against some really good teams recently. Now, they will send Stephen Strasburg to the mound for potentially his final start of the season when they take on the slumping Atlanta Braves at Nationals Park.

Strasburg may pitch in the season's final series against the Marlins, but the Nationals have wanted him to throw in "controlled environments" all season, so they may shut him down. He has yet to post a decision in any of his starts this season.

The Braves were once well in front in the NL Wild Card race, but their lead over the St. Louis Cardinals is now down to just two games. Atlanta hopes noted Nationals killer Tim Hudson can deliver them a much-needed win on Friday.

Here is the Nationals' lineup:

  1. Ian Desmond (SS)
  2. Rick Ankiel (CF)
  3. Ryan Zimmerman (3B)
  4. Michael Morse (LF)
  5. Jayson Werth (RF)
  6. Danny Espinosa (2B)
  7. Laynce Nix (1B)
  8. Wilson Ramos (C)
  9. Stephen Strasburg (P)
