Once upon a time, before Jayson Werth's reputation with Washington Nationals fans went downhill, he was a major advocate of letting Teddy Roosevelt win the President's Race. You may remember him saying this back in May:
"There's more to it than [just needing to win games]," he said. "If you want to start talking about it, we can talk about it. I mean, why doesn't Teddy get to win?
It took Werth long enough, but he's finally put his money where his mouth is. On Friday, Werth did all he could to let Teddy win the race. He failed, but we appreciate the effort.
