MLB Offseason: Seven Washington Nationals File For Salary Arbitration, According To Report

The Major League Baseball salary arbitration filing deadline has passed, and seven Washington Nationals have filed. Via Bill Ladson of MLB.com:

Nationals pitchers Tyler Clippard, Gio Gonzalez, Tom Gorzelanny, John Lannan and Jordan Zimmermann, plus catcher Jesus Flores and outfielder Michael Morse filed for salary arbitration on Friday.

As part of the process, the arbitration filing period ran from Jan. 5 until Friday, with Jan. 17 set as the day for salary arbitration figures to be exchanged. From there, salary arbitration hearings are from Feb. 1-21 in St. Petersburg.

The most interesting name on that list might be first baseman/left fielder Michael Morse. Morse had a breakout season offensively for Washington, hitting .303 with 31 home runs and 95 runs batted in, and made just $1.05 million last year. Look for Morse to get a rather hefty pay raise in arbitration.
