The Nationals' Adam LaRoche, Ian Desmond, and Stephen Strasburg have all been named the Silver Slugger award winners for their respective positions, according to Mark Zuckerman of Nats Insider. The Silver Slugger is given to the best hitter at each position for both the National League and the American League and this is the first time the Nationals have more than one winner in the same season since moving to Washington.

LaRoche hit .271/.343/.510 in 2012 with 33 home runs and 100 RBI. He ranked fifth in the NL with 69 extra base hits, and was seventh in total bases. This is his first Silver Slugger. Zuckerman also noted that LaRoche becomes just the fifth national league first baseman to win a the Silver Slugger and Gold Glove in the same season.

Desmond is also receiving his first Silver Slugger award. The shortstop took a huge step forward at the plate this season, posting a .292/.335/.511 line. He set career highs in home runs (25), RBI (73), and doubles (33) while appearing in just 130 games.

Strasburg hit .277/.333/.459 in 53 plate appearances.
