Ryan Zimmerman Contract Extension: Nationals Officially Announce Extension

Washington Nationals General Manager Mike Rizzo announced that they have locked up third baseman Ryan Zimmerman through the 2019 campaign with a club option for 2020 Sunday afternoon.

"Ryan Zimmerman is an exceptional talent and individual," Rizzo said. "He is a role model on the field, in the clubhouse and in the community. He has been the face of the Washington Nationals since baseball was returned to Washington. We are absolutely thrilled that Ryan will continue to help us build our team in a winning direction."

The press release did not specify the amount of money that Zimmerman will receive, however it has been reported to be at $100 million.

Zimmerman, a native of Virginia Beach, VA, is a career .288 hitter with 128 HR's and 498 RBI's in 845 big league games.
