Nationals Spring Training 2012: Team Signs Veteran Xavier Nady, According To Report

With first baseman Adam LaRoche and left fielder Michael Morse nursing spring injuries, the Washington Nationals have signed veteran Xavier Nady. Via Mark Zuckerman of CSNWashington.com:

The Nationals have signed Xavier Nady to a minor-league contract, though the veteran outfielder/first baseman will not get an invitation to big-league camp yet, the club announced this morning.

Nady will report to minor-league camp and is likely to begin the season at Class AAA Syracuse. The 33-year-old Nady has played both corner outfield positions and first base in his 10-year MLB career, making him an insurance policy if Morse or LaRoche struggle in their return from injury.

In his career, Nady has hit .275 with 97 homers and 393 runs batted in for the Padres, Mets, Pirates, Yankees, Cubs and Diamondbacks.
