Stephen Strasburg Will Be 2012 Opening Day Starter For Nationals; Gio Gonzalez No. 2

After an impressive showing by Jordan Zimmermann in 2011 and a few additions to the starting rotation, the Nationals had some questions facing them as to how they would set up their rotation. Stephen Strasburg was always the favorite, but there were some other contenders who seriously threatened. On Wednesday, we got our answer, Strasburg will in fact be the Opening Day starter for the Nationals.

The fact that there was even a discussion speaks volumes about the quality in the rotation this year. But Strasburg was always going to be the guy, if for nothing else than to show that he is really the leader of this staff.

Gio Gonzalez will be the No. 2 starter to being the season, according to CSNWashington's Mark Zuckerman.

Look at the last names on that list. If nothing else, Nationals fans should see some really good pitching this season.
