2012 Spring Training: Nationals Lose Grapefruit Finale To Red Sox 8-7

The Washington Nationals blew a two-run lead in the eighth and ninth innings to lose their final game of Spring Training to the Boston Red Sox, 8-7. Henry Rodriguez picked up the loss, despite pitching only one inning, but giving up the game winner in the top of the ninth on a double by Jason Repko, scoring Dan Butler.

The Red Sox built a 6-0 lead, shelling starter Edwin Jackson (4.2 IP, five hits, six runs) before the Nats halved it with a three-run fifth inning, thanks to a Wilson Ramos home run. After an Ian Desmon solo homer in the sixth, Ramos would add an RBI on a single in the bottom of the seventh inning and Washington would tie the game at 7 before blowing the lead late. In addition to Ramos' two hit, four RBI day, Mark DeRosa also posted two hits.

The Nationals will move home to D.C. for the start of the regular season but open on the road at Chicago at 2:20 p.m. ET on Thursday.
