The Newy York Yankees and Washington Nationals played a marathon set at Nationals Park on Saturday afternoon and it was the visitors from the Bronx who emerged victorious after 14 innings with a final score of 5-3 as both teams used a combined 14 pitchers in the game.
Jordan Zimmerman got the start on the mound for the Nats and pitched six full innings giving up two earned runs and striking out six Yankees batters. Andy Pettitte started on the hill for New York and pitched seven full innings and like Zimmerman, gave up just two earned runs while striking out six batters.
New York leads the weekend series 2-0 with the final game being played on Sunday. First pitch will be at 1:35 PM, CST.
