This will be our one and only post on the subject of the pine tar in Joel Peralta's glove, so we'd better make it count.
We pick up the story after Joe Maddon had described Davey Johnson's request that umpire Tim Tschida check Peralta's glove as a, ahem "feline maneuver" in his postgame press conference Tuesday night. Davey, your response?
On Maddon, Davey: "My only comment to him is read the rule book." Davey later said he didn't know Maddon, but thought "he was a weird wuss."

Oh-ho! The first-grade versions of ourselves got all excited.
Over to you, Joe Maddon.
Maddon says that pitchers should be allowed to use pine tar; it only improves grip, he says.

OK, I guess that's fair.
Maddon said #Nats should have thought of ramifications before they affected Peralta career

So, Maddon wants, essentially a gentleman's agreement not to narc on pitchers who break the rules. How very Corinthian. And how very stupid.
