Ryan Zimmerman Shoulder Injury: Third Baseman Potentially Headed To The DL

Because of an ailing right shoulder, Ryan Zimmerman might soon find himself on the disabled list. According to the Washington Post, Zimmerman, the Nats' starting third baseman, may need a cortisone shot, and rather soon. On Saturday night, in Washington's 3-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles, his slump continued, as he went 0 for 4 at the plate and his average has also dipped to .218 over the last 55 games.

"I've been hitting for a while here and I don't miss fastballs like I've been missing fastballs," he told reporters Saturday night. "It's frustrating ... If things keep going the way they have been going, we're going to have to do something."

Zimmerman initially sustained the injury in April.
