Nationals Vs. Orioles: Ross Detwiler Gets Another Chance In The Rotation For Washington

The Washington Nationals (41-28) defeated the Baltimore Orioles (40-31) on Saturday night 3-1 behind yet another stellar starting pitching performance, this time from Edwin Jackson. On Sunday, the Nationals hope to find a fix for the only blemish in their rotation, the fifth spot, as Ross Detwiler takes the hill against Baltimore.

Washington has a major-league leading 2.96 ERA, with the foursome of Stephen Strasburg, Gio Gonzalez, Jordan Zimmermann and Edwin Jackson each sporting ERAs under 3.00 individually. After giving Chien-Ming Wang a chance at the fifth spot, Ross Detwiler will get a second look after Wang's struggles on the mound.

Detwiler (4-3, 3.34 ERA) began the season at the back end of the rotation, but a 8.16 ERA in his last three starts saw the team turn to Wang and send Detwiler to the bullpen. The lefty is 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA in three career starts against the Orioles.

Baltimore will send the struggling Jake Arrieta (3-9, 5.83 ERA) to the hill on Sunday to face the Nationals. Arrieta is 0-1 with a 7.20 ERA in three career starts against Washington.
