The Washington Nationals took a 1-0 lead over the Baltimore Orioles after the third inning when Ryan Zimmerman hit an RBI single to left center filed that scored Jhonatn Solano.
The Nationals have five hits on the day, while the Orioles have four. Ross Detwiler had three strikeouts and walked two through the first five innings for Washington. Jake Arrieta had four strikeouts and had walked only one through that period.
Baltimore and Washington have split the weekend interleague series, so Sunday's rubber match is for bragging rights.
