Nationals Vs. Mets Update: Gio Gonzalez Rocked For Five Runs In Three-Plus Innings, New York Leads 6-1

It has not been a pretty start for Washington Nationals pitcher Gio Gonzalez. Gonzalez was pulled after three and one-third innings, allowing five runs on six hits including two home runs. On the other side of the ball, only one batter has been able to solve New York Mets pitcher R.A. Dickie and trail 6-1 in the top of the fourth.

The first inning saw Mets third baseman David Wright hit a two-run home run to give the Mets the early lead. Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman cut the Mets lead in half with a solo home run, but the Nationals have managed only three more hits as the Mets used a solo home run by first baseman Ike Davis, and runs scored by Ruben Tejada and Andres Torres gave the Mets a four run lead.

Even though reliever Craig Stammen has entered the game, it hasn't gotten any better for the Nationals, as an RBI by Tejada extended the lead.
