Washington's six-game winning streak was snapped Friday night in a 6-0 loss to the struggling Brewers, but the Nationals (59-40) send red-hot Jordan Zimmermann (7-6, 2.31 ERA) to the hill on Saturday against Milwaukee (45-54) looking to begin a new winning streak. The young righthander is 4-0 with a 0.95 ERA in six starts since a loss on June 22.
The Brewers will send veteran lefty Randy Wolf (3-6, 5.46 ERA) to the mound to face Davey Johnson's club. Wolf is 1-0 with a 3.07 ERA in his last three starts, and is 9-5 with a 4.54 ERA in 21 career starts against the Nationals franchise.
Despite Friday night's loss, Washington still leads the National League East by four games over the Atlanta Braves and is tied for the best record in the N.L. with the Cincinnati Reds.
