Shortly before their game with the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday, the Washington Nationals announced that they have unconditionally released outfielder Xavier Nady.
Nady, 33, was hitting a paltry .157 with three home runs and six RBI's in 40 games with the Nats in 2012. Over his 10 year MLB career, he has hit .271 with 100 home runs and 399 RBI's. He has played for seven different teams during his career including the Nationals.
Nady signed with Washington after spring training began in 2012, and after a hot March made the roster. His release is not a surprise, as the Nationals already have a productive outfield while Jayson Werth is just a week or so away from returning off of the disabled list.
