With a strong 8-4 victory over the Braves on Sunday, the Nationals improved upon their National League best record. On Tuesday, they will begin a three-game series against the team directly behind them in the NL standings, the San Francisco Giants. In the first game of the series, Jordan Zimmerman is scheduled to start for the Nationals.
Zimmerman earned his fourth win of the season with a seven inning outing against the Rockies on Wednesday when he allowed just one run despite giving up eight hits. On Tuesday he'll face two-time NL Cy Young winner, Tim Lincecum.
The once daunting task of facing Lincecum has been much more manageable in 2012, as he has struggled mightily for the majority of the season, earning eight losses already. However, he showed signs of his former self on Wednesday with his third victory of the season in a seven inning shutout of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The first pitch at Nationals Park is scheduled to be thrown at 6:35 p.m. and will be televised on MLB Network, CSN-Bay Area and MASN.
