Chipper Jones To Replace Injured Matt Kemp On N.L. All-Star Team

Earlier Tuesday, an MLB.com report indicated Washington Nations rookie outfielder Bryce Harper wasthird in the voting for the final spot on the National League All-Star team, trailing Atlanta Braves third baseman Chipper Jones and St. Louis Cardinals third baseman David Freese in the standings. Now, though, Harper's odds at winning the vote seem to have improved. Per Mark Zuckerman of CSNWashington.com:

Chipper Jones was just placed on the NL All-Star team to replace the injured Matt Kemp. So ... what does that do to the Final Vote thing?

This becomes Jones' ninth All-Star game appearance and first-ever appearance at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City. For Harper, presumably, this means the second-place finisher would earn a trip to the Midsummer Classic. Voting runs through 4 p.m. EST on Thursday.
