MLB All-Star Game 2012: Bryce Harper Named To The NL Team

It seems the Washington Nationals will send three players to Kansas City for the 2012 MLB All-Star Game after all.

Shortly after it was announced that shortstop Ian Desmond would be scratched from the National League team due to an oblique strain and be replaced by Atlanta Braves outfielder Michael Bourn, Miami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton reaggravated a right knee injury against the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday afternoon and will need to have arthroscopic surgery on Sunday, making him unavailable to play in the game, according to a report by ESPN.

As a result, Stanton will be replaced by Nats outfielder Bryce Harper, effectively making the 19-year-old the youngest position player ever to be named an All-Star.
