Major League Baseball All-Star weekend gets an early start on Sunday, when many of baseballs top prospects take the field for the 2012 Futures Game. The exhibition game pits tomorrow's stars from the U.S. versus the World.
Representing the Nationals on the U.S. team will be 22-year-old Hagerstown pitcher Alex Meyer. At Class A, Meyer is 6-3 with a 3.33 ERA in 70 1/3 innings pitched, over 14 starts. The lanky righthander is a flamethrower, amassing 77 strikeouts in those 70 1/3 innings of work. In his last six starts, Meyer has a 1.69 ERA with 33 strikeouts in 32 innings.
