The Washington Nationals begin a three-game series with the struggling New York Mets on Monday night at Citi Field.
Washington is headed to the Big Apple after losing a pair of games to the Miami Marlins in its last series. On the other hand, the Mets had a brutal weekend where they suffered a sweep by the Atlanta Braves.
Gio Gonzalez will try to straighten out the Nationals while attempting to become the season's first 19-game winner. The southpaw has been impossible to hit lately, not allowing a run over 16 innings against St. Louis and the Chicago Cubs in his last two starts.
Gonzalez also stymied the Mets when he saw them last on Aug. 19, throwing five and two-thirds innings and surrendering just one run.
Collin McHugh will make his third career start for New York, still looking for his first victory. Despite being without a win, McHugh has been good with a 3.27 ERA.
In his last start however, he was hammered for four runs in as many innings by St. Louis.
