Most figured a receiver with Devin Thomas' talent would be claimed quickly after the Redskins decided to release him last Saturday. Therefore, it shouldn't be a huge surprise that Thomas is already on his way to another team.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, it's the Carolina Panthers that have decided to claim Thomas off waivers. The Panthers have been searching for a reliable second receiver opposite Steve Smith for a while, so Thomas will certainly get his opportunity to prove that the Redskins made the wrong decision.
Thomas confirmed the news on his Twitter account.
Waiver priority goes from worst record to best record, so the fact that the 0-5 Panthers were the team that claimed him indicates Thomas wasn't going to stay on waivers for long.
When asked about Thomas today, Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said that while he liked Thomas as a person and believes he can be successful in this league, he repeatedly stressed to him that the only way to get the most out of his talent is to be single-minded in his focus.
