I was just perusing the NFL defensive team stats and I found some interesting things regarding the Redskins. They have a very odd combination of defensive stats that don't seem to go very well together. The Bad:
↵- ↵
- Last in the NFL giving up 420 yards a game. ↵
- By far the most downs played with 430. ↵
- An average of nearly six yards given up on each of those 430 snaps. ↵
- Fourth in time spent on the field per game. ↵
The Good:
↵- ↵
- Ninth overall in defensive third down percentage. ↵
- Only 14th in points allowed per game at 19.8 ↵
They might not be incredible, but they are much better than you might expect from a defense with those other stats. The Redskins might just have the stingiest sieve-like defense of all time.
