Michael Vick Puts Up Best Fantasy Football Performance Of All Time For A Quarterback

There is one saving grace about last night's blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles if you're a Washington Redskins fan: maybe you have Michael Vick on your fantasy team. If so, at least you got a big win this week in your league. Or so I hope.

Vick ended the game with this staggering stat line: 333 passing yards, four touchdowns, 80 rushing yards, two more touchdowns. In a standard scoring setup (25 passing yards/point, 10 rushing yards/point, four points for passing TDs, six for rushing TDs), Vick had 49 points last night. The Redskins players were impressed, and you should be too. Apparently, that was the best fantasy football performance by a quarterback ever, according to Yahoo! Sports' Roto Arcade blog.

↵↵According to the Roto Arcade research staff (me), Vick's fantasy total bumped Hall of Famer YA Tittle from the fantasy record book. Back in 1962, Tittle passed for 505 yards and seven TDs, leading the Giants to a win over ... wait for it ... the Redskins. Here's the box score. In the fantasy era, Mark Rypien's 47-point performance back in '91 was the top mark (442 yards, six passing TDs, rush TD).

It's not the best performance ever regardless of position -- that honor still belongs to former Houston Oilers running back/tight end Billy Cannon for what he did back in 1961 -- but it looks like it's the best performance ever in the fantasy era. Unfortunately, I did not have Vick on my team.
