The Vikings have come out and scored on their opening drive of the second half, giving them their first lead of the game 14-7 over the Redskins.
The Vikings took the lead on a 9 play, 74 yard drive which ended with a Tony Gerhart touchdown run, his first of his NFL career. The key play of the drive was a bootleg pass from Brett Favre to Visanthe Shiancoe for 29 yards on 3rd and short. Shiancoe was able to make the catch over cornerback Carlos Rogers, who was beaten in coverage. Several plays later, on another 3rd and short, Gerhart made a strong push for the first down and extended the run into the endzone to give the Vikings the lead.
The Redskins offense are now playing from behind and must be able to respond quickly, as the Vikings clearly have taken the momentum away from the Redskins. It will be up to McNabb and company to regain the momentum before the Vikings add to their lead.
