Snow In Washington D.C. Forces The Redskins To Practice In A Gym, Again

We've talked before about the Washington Redskins having to practice in less than ideal locations because their training facility in Ashburn is outdoors. They have already practiced on the Liftetime Fitness basketball court and an airport hangar this season, and yesterday, they practiced on the ice. Coach Mike Shanahan didn't seem to be that thrilled about it (via D.C. Sports Bog).

↵↵"Today was the only day it was a little disappointing on the practice field, because it was icy," Shanahan said. "You could not set your feet. Guys were slipping all over the place. The fields were frozen. The last couple days it was not like that, we've had good practices where we were able to plant our feet. Really two excellent days. Today was as good as we could have under the circumstances, but it was a little bit slick."

So what does Shanahan decide to do on a day like today, when it's snowing? Practice in the snow, of course! Well, that was the initial plan, at least. As Mike Jones of TBD notes, the team did plan on scrapping the normal walk through and practice on the astroturf field at Redskins Park at 11:45 this morning, a little earlier than normal. The tractors were out and the people operating them were working as hard as they can to shovel the snow out of the way so the Redskins can conduct a practice.

But in the end, it wasn't to be. The team has decided to go practice at a gym and is packing into cars to get there as we speak, according to Ryan O'Halloran. Could it be Lifetime Fitness again? Has the basketball court been booked? Is it open? Questions!
