Rex Grossman has led his first scoring drive as the quarterback of the Washington Redskins, as he hit Ryan Torain on a 19 yard screen pass to cut the Cowboy lead to 13-7.
The scoring drive went for 78 yards on 8 plays. Despite being under heavy pressure from the Dallas defense, Grossman was able to hit several of his receivers for sizable gains. The key completions in the drive was a tight throw to Anthony Armstrong for 19 yards, and a throw to Mike Sellers for 27 yards in which he had to roll to his right under pressure and was still able to lay it in for the completion. The touchdown play came on a screen pas where Dallas was in an all out blitz, which Washington was able to pick up and give Grossman just enough time to find Torain, who easily ran it in the rest of the way for the score.
It remains to be seen if Grossman can stay consistent the rest of the game, but if the Redskins defense continues to tighten up in the red zone, and the special teams can lock down Bryan McCann, the Redskins may be able to compete in this game.
