The Redskins have struck first blood in this game, with kicker Graham Gano hitting a 48 yard field goal into the wind, giving the Skins a 3-0 early lead.
The scoring drive got off to a good start when return ace Brandon Banks took the kickoff 30 yards, and with a facemask penalty on the play, gave the Redskins another 15 yards. With good field position, the Redskins started off by hitting Chris Cooley on their first play on offense (a rare early catch for Cooley). After that, the offense sputtered the rest of the way, giving Gano a chance to hit the 48 yarder. Gano then nailed the kick despite his issues kicking into the wind.
The key for the Redskins is slowing down the Jaguars offense. The Skins were already the worst defense in the league coming into this game, and with so many defensive players inactive, it will be up to many second and third string players to show what they can do.
