Two days after a reported offer and a swift denial of said offer by Colorado, Redskins tight ends coach Jon Embree indeed appears headed back to his alma mater to take over the struggling football program.
The Denver Post reported today that another former Buffaloes player, Eric Bieniemy, will join Embree's staff at Colorado as offensive coordinator.
Meanwhile, Redskins reporter Grant Paulsen of 106.7 The Fan, has a source saying Embree's move from the Redskins to Colorado is a done deal:
Confirmed: #Redskins TE's coach Jon Embree will accept the HC'ing job at Colorado. Source says it should be official ''in next few hours.''
Multiple outlets are reporting that Embree and Bieniemy will be introduced in Boulder on Monday. Jason Reid of The Washington Post reported on Saturday that Redskins coach Mike Shanahan will give Embree his blessing to leave Washington before the season ends so he can start recruiting and assembling his own staff at Colorado.
Colorado finished the season 5-7, and coach Dan Hawkins was fired in early November, replaced on an interim basis by Brian Cabral; the Buffaloes went 2-1 after the coaching change.
