NFL Playoffs: Former Redskin Todd Collins Benched For Caleb Hanie

How far has Todd Collins fallen? Far enough for him to be pulled from the NFC Championship Game for a quarterback has thrown only 14 NFL passes and has a career 39.6 quarterback rating.

Collins had entered the game today for the Chicago Bears following an injury to Jay Cutler's knee or ego or ovaries or something. The 39-year old former Redskin was unsurprisingly ineffective while going against an aggressive Green Bay Packers defense, and Collins was pulled after failing to complete a single one of his four passing attempts.

Collins, as Redskins fans surely remember, led Washington to the playoffs in 2007 under Joe Gibbs, winning three games while passing for five touchdowns before losing in the opening round to the Seattle Seahawks. Collins just isn't much of a playoff quarterback. After today, he might not be a quarterback at all. Getting benched in favor of an undrafted rookie out of Colorado State in the most important game of your career might be an indication that its about time to retire.
