After four Rex Grossman interceptions and a slew of bad decisions, Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan had seen enough. Shanahan benched Grossman and inserted backup quarterback John Beck.
Grossman looked out of sync the whole game, making poor reads and consistently over-throwing or under-throwing open recievers. His statistics show the futility, 9/22 for 143 yards and the four interceptions.
Beck and Grossman competed in the preseason for the starting quarterback job. Grossman won the competition, but many fans thought Beck was the better option. Beck is more athletic than Grossman but does not have much professional experience.
Injuries along the offensive line may have impacted Grossman's play. Two starters fell injured in the game and the unit is now a patchwork of backups and other team's castoffs.
