Eagles Vs. Redskins: Mike Shanahan Will Not Commit To Rex Grossman Starting Next Week

The Redskins made it interesting late after quickly falling behind 20-0 to the Eagles, but a late push with John Beck in the game fell short. Rex Grossman told the media after the game that he wanted to finish what he started today (not sure that’s the right way to put it) but his status as the starter heading into Week 7 is certainly in doubt. After the game, Mike Shanahan praised Beck’s play and would not commit to naming a starting quarterback for next season.

Via Grant Paulsen:

Mike Shanahan wouldn’t commit to a starting quarterback moving forward.

Beck went 8 for 15 for 117 yards in the second half, after Shanahan gave Grossman the hook after his four interception day. Afterwards, Beck spoke to CSN and reiterated his desire to be the starter but at this point, no one knows which way the coach will go.

“I don’t know. That will be a decision made by coach. I want to play, I want to be the quarterback but i’m not the one that makes the decision.”

As for Grossman, even after the brutal day, maintains his confidence.

Via Rich Campbell of The Washington Times:

“I believe in myself no matter if the whole stadium doesn’t.”

Shanahan told the media that decision will be made on Wednesday.
