The injury status of Washington Redskins tight end Chris Cooley remains uncertain one day after Cooley suffered a broken hand in the Redskins' 20-13 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. In his press conference on Monday, coach Mike Shanahan said Cooley would be undergoing surgery on his index finger on Wednesday and will also have his troublesome knee examined again.
Via Redskins PR:
"He’s going to get [his index finger] operated on Wednesday and I think after the surgery I need to get some more opinions on his knee. We did rest it and it did swell up again eventually. We need to know what the doctors think with the finger, with the knee, exactly where he’ll be at… We’ll listen to opinions over the next few days, especially after the surgery to make a decision for sure."
Cooley has struggled all season catching the ball, and with his knee injury also in the picture, it will probably be a while until he sees the field again.
