Given the news of the day that John Beck is your new Washington Redskins starting quarterback, this CSN Washington video in which former Redskins general manager Charley Casserly discusses the team seems relevant. Casserly was praiseworthy of the Redskins' general approach this summer, but he did say he would have done one thing differently.
That one thing? He would have drafted Blaine Gabbert at No. 10.
"Ryan Kerrigan is a good football player who solidified that position. You now have two bookends there, you're strong there. From the Redskins point of view, they didn't believe in Blaine Gabbert or Christian Ponder as they guy that would have been the ultimate solution," Casserly said. "[But] I probably would have taken Gabbert at 10 and not forced him into play this year. Play Rex Grossman or John Beck and bring him along slowly. I think he'll be good enough in the end."
Casserly later said the Redskins "can't go wrong" for taking Kerrigan, but "the search continues" to find a quarterback. Here's the full video.
