Chris Cooley is officially done for the season. The Washington Redskins linebacker has been placed on injured reserve, according to a team press release. Cooley had undergone surgery to fix a broken hand last week and has also been bothered by a knee injury since the preseason.
The Redskins would not say which injury caused them to end Cooley's year. Previously, it looked like Cooley may return from the hand injury in November. However, the Redskins have obviously decided to shut him down instead.
Cooley has struggled all year, catching just eight passes for 65 yards this season. However, the Redskins will miss his leadership and presence in the running game. Cooley has played eight NFL season, all with the Redskins, and has 428 receptions during that span.
Cooley is not technically a free agent until 2014, but with his production declining and injuries piling up, many are wondering if he has played his last game as a member of the Redskins.
